Zentel Tablet is used for Neurocysticercosis, Hydatid disease, Infections caused by tapeworm, Infections caused by roundworm and other conditions. Zentel Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Zentel Tablet - Side-effects

Zentel Tablet - Precautions & How to Use

Before using Zentel Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Overdosage of Zentel Tablet

  • Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Zentel Tablet, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home. Bring a medicine box, container, or label with you to help doctors with necessary information.

Storage of Zentel Tablet

  • Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.

Questions - Zentel Tablet

Zentel (Albendazole) is an antihelmintic agent which is used in the treatment of echinococcosis, a disease that causes cysts in liver and lung. Zentel may cause mild and transient serum enzyme elevations and can lead to acute liver injury in rare cases.

Studies have reported that Zentel may cause harm to the fetus and should be used during pregnancy only in rare cases or when no alternative management is appropriate. Females of childbearing age should begin Zentel treatment only after a negative pregnancy test and should not get pregnant while receiving albendazole or within one month of completing treatment with the drug. Studies have found Zentel to be teratogenic in rats and rabbits and not recommended in pregnancy or babies younger than 2 years. Contraindications of Zentel, specified on PubChem are pregnancy and liver cirrhosis.

As it has been suggested that Zentel is not safe to take during pregnancy, so it should be avoided. Women taking Zentel (Albendazole) are advised to notify their gynecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant during therapy or are breastfeeding an infant.
