Orsythia Tablet - Precautions & How to Use

Before using Orsythia Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Overdosage of Orsythia Tablet

  • Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. Questions - Orsythia Tablet

Orsythia (combination of ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) can cause weight change (gain or loss). It is a combination of progesterone and estrogen and comes under the category of oral contraceptives. It is used to prevent pregnancy by stopping the ovulation and also used to treat acne by decreasing the amount of various natural substances present in the body. It also improves the lining of the uterus to prevent pregnancy from developing and change the mucus at the cervix (opening of the uterus) to block sperm from entering.

Oral contraceptives are very effective method of birth control, but they do not stop the spread of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV, the virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome [AIDS]) and other sexually transmitted diseases.

According to a study published in 2014 in the Journal of Women’s Health, an increase in weight with the use of oral contraceptives like Ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel was found but a decrease in weight was also found in obese women.

Various other adverse effects of Orsythia are stomach cramps or bloating, vomiting, dizziness, constipation, depression, acne, breast tenderness, stomach irritation, swelling, redness of vagina, headache, painful or missed periods, and acne.
