    Overdosage of Unienzyme Tablet

    • Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Unienzyme Tablet, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home. Bring a medicine box, container, or label with you to help doctors with necessary information.

    Storage of Unienzyme Tablet

    Unienzyme does not cause any harm to the fetus. Unienzyme contains Activated charcoal, Fungal Diastase, and Papain in combination with as its active ingredients. Unienzyme is an antacid used to treat heartburn, work by neutralizing the stomach acid. It is a non-prescription drug. It is also used for intestinal gas, digestion, flatulence, lower cholesterol levels, hangover, stomach gas and other conditions.
    
    A study published in 2010 in Journal of Canadian Family Physicians reported that antacids, proton pump inhibitors, and histamine-2 receptor antagonists are safe to use for heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) during pregnancy. Another study also reported that Antacids containing calcium, magnesium, and aluminum does not cause any teratogenic effect in animal studies and these are recommended as first-line treatment for heartburn and acid reflux during pregnancy.
    
    Most of the antacids are proven to be safe, but it may cause side effects during treatment of heartburn in pregnancy, such as diarrhea, constipation or muscle cramps, and may interfere with food absorption. Women taking Unienzyme are advised to notify their gynaecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant during therapy or are breastfeeding an infant.
