Before using Sofradex Cream, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Sofradex is used to treat bacterial infections in skin lesions and inflammation of the skin. Sofradex contains Dexamethasone Topical and Framycetin as active ingredients.

Sofradex works by inhibiting the translation during protein synthesis of bacteria; helping in the management of otic infections; preventing the cerebral vasospasm in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients; producing the depigmentation effect.

Dexamethasone may be considered as beneficial to women who are at risk of delivering prematurely to promote maturation of the fetus lungs. No increased rates of neonatal death were reported with the use of Dexamethasone. Dexamethasone has also been used during pregnancy to treat the symptoms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia in female babies.

No, animal studies were reported with the use of framycetin. Women before using Sofradex are advised to notify their gynaecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant during therapy or are breastfeeding an infant.
