    Before using Regestrone Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.).     Questions - Regestrone Tablet

    The evidence of weight gain or loss with the use of Regesrtrone is still not found. However, it contains an active ingredient Norethindrone, which can cause weight change (gain or loss). It is a progestin and comes under the category of Contraceptives. Norethindrone comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is used to treat endometriosis, a condition in which the tissue that lines the womb grows in different areas of the body and causes pain, heavy or irregular menstrual periods and also tests the natural substances that affect the uterus.
    According to a study published in 2012 in the Journal of Pharmaceuticals, change in weight with the use of oral contraceptives like Norethindrone was found.
    Various adverse effects of levonorgestrel are irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting, changes in menstrual flow, enlarged or tender breasts, upset stomach, weight changes, difficulty falling asleep, acne, and hirsutism.

    It is not clear if Regestrone can stop pregnancy. The active ingredient of Regestrone is Norethisterone, which is the same as Norethindrone. Norethindrone dosage of 2.5 to 10 mg daily for 5 to 10 day is for the treatment of secondary amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding. Norethindrone dosage of 0.35 mg daily is for contraception. Use of Norethindrone at any strength is contraindicated during pregnancy. Norethindrone 5 mg oral tablets may cause congenital abnormalities in fetuses.
