    Questions - Metrogyl 400 Tablet

    Metrogyl 400 is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent used to treat pelvic endocarditis, inflammatory disease, and bacterial vaginosis. Metrogyl is the brand name of Metronidazole. Metrogyl is used with other antibiotics to treat endocarditis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and bacterial vaginosis.
    There are some side effects reported with the use of Metrogyl in patients. FDA has put this drug under pregnancy category B, which means no evidence of risk in humans with the use of Metrogyl has been reported. In animal studies, it showed adverse effects but no fetal risk, but there are no adequate studies for humans. Metrogyl can cross the placental barrier and enters the fetal circulation rapidly. The chance of fetal harm is rare but remains a possibility.
    Women taking Metrogyl 400 are advised to notify their gynaecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant during therapy or are breastfeeding an infant.
