    Overdosage of Meftal Forte Tablet

    • Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Meftal Forte Tablet, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home.     • Taking a single dose of expired Meftal Forte Tablet is unlikely to produce an adverse event.     Questions - Meftal Forte Tablet

    The safety profile of Meftal forte (Paracetamol and Mefenamic Acid) during pregnancy is not clear. US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has specified Paracetamol and Mefenamic Acid as pregnancy category C drugs which indicates that animal studies show an adverse effect on the fetus but there are no teratogenic studies of Paracetamol and Mefenamic Acid in pregnant women. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug which comes under the subclass of para-aminophenol derivatives and non-selective cyclo-oxygenase (COX) inhibitors. It is used to treat fever, cold, joint pain, muscle pain, febrility, headache, ear pain, pain in teeth and periods pain.
    A study published in 2016 in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry suggested that Paracetamol may be responsible for the increased risk of attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) when used during pregnancy. Studies have indicated that mefenamic acid increases the risk of premature closure of the fetal ductus arterious when Ibuprofen is used during the third trimester of pregnancy.
    Women taking Meftal forte are advised to notify their gynaecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant during therapy or are breastfeeding an infant.
