Loette Tablet - Precautions & How to Use

Before using Loette Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Loette contains levonorgestrel and ethinyloestradiol which is a combination of estrogens (female sex hormone) and progestins which is used to cure the symptoms of menopause like vaginal dryness, irritation, burning, hot flashes and to prevent thinning of the bones (osteoporosis).

Loette is a birth control pill used for contraception to prevent pregnancy. Loette medications can cause various common side effects including bloating, breast tenderness, skin irritation at the application site, nausea, swelling of the ankles/feet (fluid retention), vomiting, headache, abnormal vaginal bleeding, migraine headache, pain.

Combination of oral contraceptives acts by suppression of gonadotropins. Although the primary mechanism of this action is inhibition of ovulation, due to which there are chances of weight gain and other alterations include changes in the cervical mucus (which increase the difficulty of sperm entry into the uterus) and the endometrium (which reduce the likelihood of implantation).

A study published in PubMed Health found that patients taking Loette and other estrogens had a rapid weight gain depending on drug, dose, and duration over the course of 6 months. However, the exact weight gain varied, depending on the estrogens used.
