    Questions - Levolin Inhaler

    Yes, Levolin is considered to be safe for Pregnant women. But, it is recommended to be taken on doctor's recommendation only. FDA has specified Levosalbutamol (the active ingredient of Levolin) in Pregnancy category C which specifies that there was fetal harm in animals administered with Levosalbutamol in the first trimester of pregnancy but there is no adequate data for human studies that have demonstrated Levosalbutamol to be safe for use in women in any trimester of pregnancy.
    Levosalbutamol is a short-acting sympathomimetic agent that helps to open the large airways in the lungs. It is used to treat asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, and high blood potassium levels. It also stimulates beta-1 adrenergic receptors which increase the rate of myocardial contraction.
    Women taking Salbutamol are advised to notify their gynaecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant.
