Overdosage of Fortwin Injection

  • Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Fortwin Injection, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home. Bring a medicine box, container, or label with you to help doctors with necessary information.

Questions - Fortwin Injection

Fortwin may cause harm to the fetus. FDA has put this drug under pregnancy category C, which means risk is not ruled out. Fortwin is a drug which contains Pentazocine (opioid agonist) and Naloxone (opioid antagonist). It is used as the analgesic and central nervous system (CNS) stimulant.

There are not enough studies that have been conducted with naloxone hydrochloride and pentazocine. It is also not known whether Fortwin tablets can affect reproduction capacity or can cause fetal harm when administered to pregnant women. This drug should be given to pregnant women only if clearly needed. However, animal studies with pentazocine have not demonstrated teratogenic or embryotoxic effects.

Women taking Fortwin are advised to notify their gynaecologist if they become pregnant or intend to become pregnant during therapy or are breastfeeding an infant.
